This itinerary is suited to the adventurous traveller looking for an outback experience. Spend a day in Adelaide learning about Aboriginal culture, swimming with dolphins or exploring the Adelaide Central Market before travelling to the Flinders Ranges. Highlights of this region include Wilpena Pound, excellent bushwalking opportunities and scenic flights.
From the Flinders Ranges head south via the picturesque wine region of the Clare Valley before returning to Adelaide. For those with more time, spend a few days on Kangaroo Island to discover the wildlife and amazing scenery.
Day 1
Adelaide
Cruise with Temptation Sailing from Glenelg, to watch or swim with wild dolphins. Afterwards, take a dip at beautiful Glenelg beach or enjoy the shopping and dining options before heading back to the city. Day 2
Adelaide - Flinders Ranges
Join a tour or self-drive to the Flinders Ranges, one of the oldest mountain ranges on earth. The Flinders Ranges provides visitors with an accessible outback experience. Wildlife highlights include the rare Yellow-footed rock-wallaby, the Wedge-tailed eagle (Australia’s largest bird of prey) and incredible numbers of kangaroos and emus.

Day 3
Flinders Ranges
Take a four-wheel drive tour or a scenic flight to discover more about Wilpena Pound and the surrounding ranges. Learn more about the history and culture of the area with an Indigenous cultural tour or a visit to Rawnsley Park Station. Cap off the day looking up at the sky to witness the impressive sunsets and stunning night sky.

Day 4
Flinders Ranges - Clare Valley - Adelaide
Depart the Flinders Ranges and return to Adelaide via the picturesque Clare Valley, the home of Australian Riesling. Wineries to note include Knappstein, Jim Barry Wines, Kilikanoon Wines and Skillogalee. There are many excellent options for lunch including winery restaurants that blend the best of local wine and produce.

Day 5
Kangaroo Island (optional)
Take a morning flight from Adelaide to Kangaroo Island or travel by coach and ferry to the island - here are some options. Touring on Kangaroo Island include self-drive, coach touring or luxury, personalised touring in four-wheel drive vehicles. Highlights on the island include Raptor Domain, Seal Bay Conservation Park, Kelly Hill Caves, Flinders Chase National Park, Remarkable Rocks, fur seals at Cape du Couedic’s Admiral’s Arch, Little Sahara, pristine beaches and stunning coastline, local produce and plenty of wildlife.
