Air Travel
Within South Australia Regional Express (Rex) offer services to regional areas including Port Lincoln and Ceduna on Eyre Peninsula, Mount Gambier on the Limestone Coast and Coober Pedy in the Outback.
QANTASLink offer services to regional areas including Kingscote on Kangaroo Island, Mount Gambier on the Limestone Coast and Port Lincoln and Whyalla on Eyre Peninsula.
Lockers for storing luggage are located near the car rental offices on the ground floor of the multi-level car park at Adelaide Airport. Check luggage allowances for regional airlines upon booking.
Adelaide Airport is eight kilometres (five miles) from the centre of the city, a 15-minute drive. Adelaide Airport’s passenger terminal services regional, domestic and international travellers in one building. The average taxi fare from the city centre to the airport is A$20.
Adelaide Airbus Flyer offers airport transfers from the outer suburbs and surrounding areas of Adelaide (must be pre-booked).
Adelaide Airport Bus links the airport and the city along with South-Western & North-Western Suburbs.

Rail Travel
All interstate trains arrive and depart from Adelaide Parklands Terminal which is three kilometres (two miles) west of the city centre. Local taxis meet every train. The Indian Pacific operates between Sydney, Adelaide and Perth. The Ghan operates between Adelaide, Alice Springs and Darwin. The Overland operates between Melbourne and Adelaide.
A new train has launch onto Australian tracks late 2019, linking Adelaide and Brisbane with 16 departures in its inaugural season. The Great Southern train explores the landscapes and experiences across Australia's diverse south-east corner. The two-night/ three-day journey from Adelaide to Brisbane features opportunities to step off at various locations along the way. Great Southern is the newest addition to Australian rail journeys, which includes the Indian Pacific and The Ghan.
Coach Travel
All interstate and regional coaches arrive and depart from the Central Bus Station at 85 Franklin Street, Adelaide. Greyhound Coaches has connections to Adelaide from most major Australian cities and offers travel passes designed for independent travel. Firefly Express also operate services from Melbourne and Sydney (via Melbourne) to Adelaide.

Getting to Kangaroo Island
By Air
Kangaroo Island is an easy 30-minute flight from Adelaide to Kingscote with QantasLink offering multiple departures on selected of days of the week.
By Ferry
SeaLink vehicle and passenger service operates between Cape Jervis (2 hours south of Adelaide) and Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island. There are 3 departures daily (except Christmas Day) with extra services during peak times. The ferry crossing takes 45 minutes.
LinkSA offer coach transfers between Adelaide and Cape Jervis and Fleurieu Peninsula (Victor Harbor and Goolwa) - to meet the Ferry.
Hire Cars
Budget and Hertz Rent-A-Car are located at Kingscote Airport and Penneshaw Wharf. Check with hire car companies before bringing hire cars to Kangaroo Island as some have restrictions.
There is no public transport or taxi service available on the island.
